Don't really think there's a 'best' test pipe.

Have someone make you one.

So, I'm basically paying $400 for a down-pipe?

Yes, Its hand built in the USA, has half inch flanges, and a vertical flex section, & more which is all essential to exhaust system reliability.

That beats blowing out your gaskets, and cracking your turbo manifold because you settled on a downpipe with a useless horizontal flex section that scrapes the ground. Its not cool when youre trying to have fun at events, and all of the sudden your car sounds like shit and is making no power. We've all been there.

I have it and I had to crack a cheap chinese elbow first to understand. Also the fact that it's a 1 piece set up makes life a lot easier. The 3 bolts from elbow to downpipe are a pain in the ass to install. If the parts are chinese they dont line up and one of them stripped my t28 thread.

I don't know why people get overwhelmed by the price. It's 120-200 for a decent elbow and 100-200 but the more expensive ones don't have the flex which makes you want to buy the cheaper ones. It comes out to be the same or more once you crack your manifold or elbow and strip your threads on your turbo.

And yes I have had blown gaskets at the worst times......
